What is Pink Floyd?

Aside from the answer that I receive from most people of
it being the name of a singer or 'that guy' who sings the song 'the wall',
Pink Floyd could be many things. Other than the name of a fabulous band of
course.

Just naming certain aspects of what Pink Floyd can be is to little. I feel
the need to demonstrate and prove the influence of what I feel the aspects
of Pink Floyd are.

Not only do the lyrics of Pink Floyd include wonderful poetry but the
writing works of Mr. Floyd himself (referring to whomever wrote the lyrics
in question) have certainly influenced not one but many poets around this
poetically creative world. How do I know this? Because I see it almost
everyday, on the net, in books, almost everywhere I look its there in some
hidden floydian form of some sort. And now I have an urge to express myself
with a little bit of poetry.

I will stick on the traditional side of poetry by writing a sonnet with
modern language. To me poetry is the best way to express my feelings for
the band because like their lyrics poetry has further meaning behind the
words.

The music fills the space within my mind
I'm taken by the notes and feel their grace
I read the lyrics thinking all in time
The feeling of the art is kept in pace;
Trust I have with those who listen too
Communicate with them I surely love
For friends surrounding me, they are not few
Disputes transpire but foes we rise above;
Through hardship times the music guided me
The nights and days were long but I got by
Without the ease no future I could see
It helped the pain and this I do not lie
And if the world will soon desist
Until the end the sounds exist

The music of Pink Floyd as shown in my poem has taught me to listen, think,
read, communicate, and trust. It has made me many friends all around this
planet. And without the music of Pink Floyd guiding me through my hard
times I may still have been in an unhappy mental state. I think that poetry
is the best way to show you in my opinion 'What exactly is Pink Floyd'.
