The highest peak in the contentional United States, Mt. Whitney rises 14,496 feet above sea level. It is hard to imagine that the lowest spot in the Western Hemisphere (282 ft below sea level in Death Valley) is about 80 miles from here.

Some kind of an airplane flies over top of Mt. Whitney. Strangely enough, HeyYou` ended up sitting in the cockpit of this very plane in late September 1998.
